OGLE-TR-56

OGLE -TR -56, also known as V5157 Sagittarii is a solar system at a distance of about 1500 parsecs in the constellation Sagittarius. To the central star is moving at least one exoplanet.

Central star

OGLE -TR -56 is a star of spectral type G, which means it is a star that is quite similar to our sun. Due to the large distance its apparent magnitude is only 16.6 mag.

Exoplanet

The discovery of the exoplanet OGLE -TR -56 b was carried out in 2002 by the Polish OGLE team using the transit method. The change in the luminosity of the star is measured when the planet passes by in front of the star (transit ). OGLE -TR -56 b orbits its star in just 1 day and 5 hours, and its distance from the central star is 0.02 AU ( 3.4 million km ). Accordingly, OGLE -TR -56 b of the hottest of all the known planets is likely to be; its temperature is estimated to be 5900 K, and these would be even higher than the surface temperature of our sun ( 5778 K). The planet has a mass of about 1.3 Jupiter masses and is classified as a hot Jupiter. His track speed is 200 km / s more than four times as high as that of Mercury.
