Ohaveč

Ohaveč ( German Wohawetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers west of Jičín and belongs to Okres Jičín.

Geography

Ohaveč is located in the valley of the brook Porák between the ridge and the hřbet Velišský Prachovské rocks in the mountains Jičínská pahorkatina. South of the village lie the ponds Ostruženský rybnik and Turecká. 16 By Ohaveč leads the state road from Jičín to Mladá Boleslav.

Neighboring towns are Prachov in the north, Holín in the northeast, Hurychovna, Jicin Holínské Předměstí, Jicin Pražské Předměstí and Březinka the southeast, Brezina in the south, Hlásná Lhota U Rybníka in the west and Ostružno the southwest, Dolni Lochov in the west and Horni Lochov in northwest.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1327 under the name " Vohavec ".

After the abolition of patrimonial Vohavec formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Jičín. 1866 was the village on the battlefield of the Battle of Gitschin. In 1900 the city acquired its current name Ohaveč. In the course of municipal reform of 1960 Ohaveč was incorporated into Holín on 1 January 1961. Since 24 November 1990, the municipality Ohaveč there again.
