Ohio County (Indiana)

Ohio County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Rising Sun.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme southeast of Indianapolis, on the east by Kentucky and has an area of 227 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Dearborn County, Boone County (Kentucky), Switzerland County and Ripley County.

History

Ohio County was formed on January 4, 1844 from parts of Dearborn County. It was named after the Ohio River.
