Ohrid–Debar Uprising

The Ohrid - Debar Uprising ( Macedonian Охридско - Дебарско востание, Bulgarian Охридско - Дебърско въстание ) was a Odrinischen of the Inner Macedonian Revolutionary Organization organized uprising of the local Bulgarian and Albanian population in the west of the Vardar Macedonia, today Republic of Macedonia, against the new Serbian rule in the country. The uprising took place in September 1913, two months after the end of the Second Balkan War in the region of Debar, Struga and Ohrid instead. Leader of the insurgents were Matow Milan, Petar Tschaulew, Pawel Christow and Anton Schibakow.

After two weeks of fighting against the 100,000 -strong regular army of the Serbian uprising was bloodily suppressed. According to reports by the International Commission of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace many Bulgarian intellectuals were arrested or shot and burned a number of villages. About 25,000 Albanians fled to Albania and over 30,000 Bulgarians in Bulgaria.
