Ojén

Ojen is a town in the hinterland of the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga in southern Spain. It has 3293 inhabitants and is located 309 m above sea level.

Location

He is on the A 355 to about halfway between Marbella and Monda in the Sierra Blanca. After Marbella in the south and thus to E 15 is 10 km and to Benahavis in the southwest is about 35 km.

History

( Chronicle of the deeds of the emirs of Córdoba) was first documented Ojen around the year 920 in the " Crónica de las Hazanas de los emires cordobeses " mentioned, as Rahman III. in a fight a rebellion of Christians reflected against the Muladis of Malaga. 1505 the present parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación was ( Our Lady of the Incarnation ) built by order of the Archbishop of Seville, Diego de Deza.
