The Okachimachi Station (Japanese御 徒 町 駅, Okachimachi -eki ) is located in Taitō located in Tokyo, Japan.

History

The station was inaugurated on 1 November 1925 by the Japanese National Railways with completion of the last missing section of the Yamanote Line. On January 22, 1990, during construction work very close to the train station an accident occurred with 10 slightly injured. Due to the tunneling works for the extension of the Shinkansen line to Tokyo the pavement of a road is bagged and several vehicles are plunged into the depths.

Design and tracks

The station was built in the commonly encountered design as a through station. He has four platform tracks which are spread on two central platforms.

Lines

The Okachimachi station is serviced by the JR East lines Keihin - Tōhoku and Yamanote. The colors used in the table below are assigned by JR East Color codes of the lines.

Environment

The station is located at the southern end of a long shopping street that leads always directly along the western side of the tracks and extends to the Ueno station. This Ameyoko (アメ横) said territory was in the period after the Second World War, one of the major black markets in Tokyo. Today it is a normal business district.

Use

In 2007, the station from an average of 75 733 passengers was used on the day of the order took place 57 of about 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2007.
