Oklahoma Gas & Electric

The OGE Energy Corp.. is an electricity utilities in the United States with headquarters in Oklahoma City. OGE Energy is the parent company of three company OG & E Electric Services, Enogex LLC and OGE Energy Resources.

History

The establishment of Oklahoma Gas & Electric was made on February 27, 1902 by Edward H. Cooke, five years before the founding of the State of Oklahoma. In 1928, it was through a series of acquisitions, the largest utility in the state. 1947 were destroyed by a series of tornadoes ( Glazier - Higgins - Woodward tornadoes ) all the facilities of the OG & E and then had to be rebuilt. Thus, 1949 was one of the first company to use gas turbines combined with steam turbines to generate energy.

In 1963, the then world's largest gas - and - steam power plant was built with a capacity of 235 megawatts at the Horseshoe Lake Station.

In the course of 1986 Oklahoma Gas & Electric took over the company Enogex, which operates an over 10,000 -mile network of pipelines in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

In 1997, OG & E with OGE Energy Resources, the second subsidiary of the Group.
