Okocimski KS Brzesko

Okocimski KS Brzesko ( officially Okocimski club Sportowy Brzesko ) is a Polish sports club from the city Brzesko, Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

History

The club was founded on September 6, 1933 under the name Club Okocimski narciarski. The first president was the industrialist and politician Antoni January Goetz Okocimski, who also owned the Okocim brewery from 1930. Since then, the club is very strongly associated with the brewery. Because of this link, the club is also known as the Piwosze (German: drinkers ) are known. At the beginning, the club took care especially to the sport of skiing and the resulting tourism. Then, the club began to form new departments: football, athletics, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, hockey and chess. After the Second World War, the club was renamed Spójnia Brzesko. After another name change to Sparta Brzesko, the club was eventually renamed on 16 February 1957 in today's club name Okocimski KS Brzesko.

Football Division

The greatest success of the club were the fourth place in the second division in the 1994/95 season and the Achtelfinaleinzüge in the Polish Cup in season 1950/51 and 1995 /96 apply. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, the club played only in the fourth division. In the next few years, however, the association was able to ascend to the third tier (2006 ), many times to qualify for the Polish Cup and three times the round of reach (2005/ 06, 2006/ 07, 2009/10). The 2011/12 season was one of the most successful in the history of the club. The club dominated the second division ( group East), sat down in the end as a table first with 71 points, sixteen points ahead of the Second OKS Stomil Olsztyn by and climbed to the second division. Volleyball department

The volleyball players were playing for years only at the regional level in Poland. In the 1993/94 season the club was relegated to the third division after won the finals in Opole. In the 1998/99 season the club then promotion to the second division, but had to again take up the passage to the third division after one year. Since then, the club plays in the third division and had to on numerous occasions against relegation fight. The most famous volleyball players, who played in the youth club, Paweł Ignacok, which was in the first division champion with AZS Częstochowa 1993.
