Okram Ibobi Singh

Okram Ibobi Singh ( born June 19, 1948 in Thoubal, Manipur ) is an Indian politician ( Indian National Congress ) from the state of Manipur. He has since 2002 been acting Chief Minister ( head of government) of Manipur.

Okram Ibobi Singh is one of the Meitei, the majority of the people of Manipur, and is Hindu. Okram Ibobi Singh drew first time in 1984 as an independent candidate from the constituency in the Parliament of Manipur Khangabo one. At the next election in 1990 he defended his constituency, this time as a candidate of the Congress Party. In the elections of 1995 and 2000 Okram Ibobi Singh was defeated in his constituency, the candidate of the Manipur People's Party, but in 2002 he made the re-entry. As a result of the election won by the Okram Ibobi Singh Congress Party has been appointed as the new Chief Minister and sworn in on 7 March 2002 in office. At the 2007 and 2012 elections, he was confirmed in office.

Okram Ibobi Singh in 2008 survived a bomb attack on his house, to which the separatist organization People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak ​​known, unharmed.
