Olaf Poulsen (Norway)

Olaf Poulsen ( born July 27, 1920 in Kristiania, † September 27, 2008 in Oslo) was a Norwegian speed skater, president of the International Skating Union ( ISU) and a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

As a young man Olaf Poulsen was speed skater. He started for the club Oslo IL and later worked with the club 's board. In 1966 he was a member of the Norwegian Skating Association. Here he was from 1968 Vice President and 1969-1973 President. He was a council member of the ISU in 1971, vice president from 1977 and finally from 1984 to 1994 President, then Honorary President. From 1992 to 1994 Olaf Poulsen was a member of the IOC.

After the Winter Olympics in his home country in 1994, he resigned from all his offices.
