Olaf Prenzler

Olaf Prenzler ( born April 2, 1958 in Kästorf ) is a German track and field athlete and Olympian, who - starting for the GDR - in the 1970s and 1980s was a successful sprinter. In 1982 he became European champion in the 200 -meter run and won four more medals at the European Championships in 1978, 1982 and 1986.

Life

Prenzler In 1977 he won the silver medal over 100 meters at the European Junior Championships. In 1978, he was over 200 meters ( 20.61 s ) and the 4 x 100 - meter relay in the GDR European vice-champion ( 38.78 s, together with Manfred Kokot, Eugen Ray and Alexander Thieme; Prenzler as cage rotor ). Olaf Prenzler competed for the SC Magdeburg and trained with Jürgen Ludewig. In its competition time, he was 1.78 m tall and 76 kg. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents to the state doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of Prenzler.

Olaf Prenzler studied sports science. After the end of the GDR, he was general agent of an insurance company. He has a son ( Steven, born 1978 ), who was also active as a sprinter.
