Olav Hansson

Olav Hansson ( born July 23, 1957 in Røa, Oslo ) is a former Norwegian ski jumper.

The launching of the club IL Røa Hansson jumped on 30 December 1981 for the first time in the Ski Jumping World Cup. When opening competition for Four Hills Tournament 1981/82 he landed at the end on the 32nd. In just his second event in Garmisch -Partenkirchen him with number 9 succeeded in winning the first World Cup points. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1982 in his hometown of Oslo he could reach the 7th place on the normal hill. On the large hill he won the silver medal behind Matti Nykänen. In the team competition, he won the gold medal together with Johan Sætre, Per Bergerud and Ole Bremseth. After another good finishes in the World Cup, including a 2nd place in Štrbské Pleso, he finished the World Cup season 1981/82 on the 13th place in the overall standings.

In the Norwegian Championships 1982 in Raufoss Hansson won behind Roger Ruud, Ole Bremseth bronze medal on the normal hill. On the large hill he won the silver medal behind Johan Sætre.

On 18 December 1982 he was again able to jump with 2nd place on the podium and laid the foundation for his successful World Cup season in Cortina d' Ampezzo. Also in Bischofshofen and Thunderbay he stood on the podium. Previously, he had already jumped in the overall standings of the Four Hills Tournament 1982/83 on the 8th rank. When ski flying in Vikersund he also reached 2nd place He finished the season in March with a 3rd and a 4th place in the competition in Planica. He finished the World Cup season 1982/83 as fourth in the overall World Cup standings.

In the Norwegian Championships in 1983 in Lillehammer, he won on the normal and on the large hill the silver medal behind Per Bergerud.

Following the season he put for over a year an international competition break and jumped for the first time December 30, 1984 in the World Cup again. However, the 1984/85 season did not start so well and so he landed mostly on the rearmost ranks. Therefore, he also took part in only 5 of 21 World Cup competitions. In the 1985/86 season could jump all participated jumping always among the top twenty. The Four Hills Tournament 1985/86 he finished in 8th place in the overall standings. At the start of the 1986/87 season he once again jumped in Chamonix to 2nd place. It was his last podium place and the last place in the top 10 to the end of the season he once again jumped to 14th place on his home ski jump, Holmenkollen in Oslo, and ended thereafter his active career Springer. Previously, he had won at the Norwegian Championships 1987 in Kongsberg the bronze medal on the normal hill.
