Olavi Virta

Oskari Olavi " Ola " Virta ( born February 27, 1915 in Sysmä; † July 14, 1972 in Tampere ) was a famous Finnish tango and pop singer, he is considered one of the most important representatives of the Finnish tango.

He made his first recording session in 1939 and quickly became known. He interpreted international hit and was instrumental in the development of an independent Finnish popular music. The piece Hopeinen kuu ( Silver moon / Guarda che luna ) was elected in 2006 for best Finnish hits of all time.
