Sun Parakeets Bird Park

The Olching located 20 km west of Munich. On 20,000 m² are Tiger finches to see cranes, storks, rheas and various parrot species.

Especially the natural situation in the Amperauen distinguishes the park. All aviaries are planted and mostly have an earth or sand, which emphasizes the naturalness of the plants. Part of the park is defined as a retreat for the numerous wild birds and not accessible to visitors, but can be clearly seen.

The virginity of the adjacent nature reserve on the Amper River relies particularly rare native birds, such as kingfishers and orioles. In the park area 40 nest boxes are attached, which offer additional space for the next generation.

Defined by the bird plants also is a playground next to a beer garden. Operators of the park is the bird lovers club Olching association of the area

History

The bird club Olching and environment exists since 1968 and has 120 members. The transformation from the original club thought the bird breeding towards the bird hobby is completed.

As the club members wanted to keep animals humanely and not in the apartment, they decided to make their own bird sanctuary with large aviaries and lots of space. Only then the animals came. The grippers among others originate confiscations of duty or are bred by zoos, who did not know what to do with the birds. In addition, also found of active bird lovers of the club numerous types for a hotel in the park. During the last 20 years the bird population has become so enlarged.

Since 1982, the Olching is open for private visits. Dogs are also welcome. Guides for kindergartens / schools etc. are carried out regularly.
