The Bobtail is one of the FCI recognized British breed (FCI Group 1, Section 1, Standard No. 16).
Origin and History
The name means Bobtail to German as " stubby tail ." The official breed name is Old English Sheepdog (abbreviated: OES ), ie Old English Sheepdog. The origin of the breed is in the dark, a kinship with guard dogs can be supposed.
Description
With its sumptuous fur of the Bobtail looks bigger and bulkier than they actually are bitches have a shoulder height of 56 cm, and males of 61 cm, the FCI sets no weight. The hair is of good, rich, harsh texture, not straight, but shaggy and free from curl, any shade of gray, touched with gray or blue. Trunk and hindquarters of solid color with white " socks " or even without. Undercoat of waterproof pile. The ears are small and flat; worn on the sides of the head. In some dogs, the bobtail is innate, was formerly docked. The cropping is banned in many countries in Europe. Most of the dogs should therefore have a normal, inconspicuous tail.
Use
Bobtails are used as household and companion dogs or herding dogs.
Nature
As a former guard dog of the Bobtail guarded him all trusts, but is more sociable than the majority of livestock guarding dogs. As a former working dog he needs employment and plenty of exercise.
