Old Indiana County Courthouse

The former Indiana County Courthouse, which is now referred to as Old Indiana County Courthouse, located in Indiana and was until 1970 the Court House of the Indiana counties. It was built in 1869-1870. The design came from the local architect James W. Drum and chronologically the second building, which answered its purpose, after the previous building was canceled in 1868. The cost was U.S. $ 150,000 (1870 ). The Italianate architecture of the building in the Second Empire style is based primarily on a red brick and stone. The roof was designed as a mansard roof. The ceiling height was around nine meters.

The large clock in the dome was the time of their installation, the largest in the county. It was built by the Howard Clock Company of Boston and Springfield (Ohio ). Next door the sheriff's office and a prison was built in 1879, which was structurally connected to the courthouse to ask about detainees and convicts. At least six convicts were hanged 1882-1913 in the courtyard of the court.
