Old Tom Morris Award
The Old Tom Morris Award is the highest award of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America ( GCSAA ). It is awarded every year since 1983 to a person who has contributed through its ongoing commitment in a similar manner as Old Tom Morris for the benefit of golf.
Morris (1821-1908) was initially Greenkeeper in Prestwick, ran a golf club repair shop in St Andrews, won as a pro golfer four times the British Open ( 1861,1862,1864 and 1867) and started in 1875 as a golf architect a name.
The winner will be nominated by the Executive Board of the GCSAA. The prize is awarded annually during the training conference of the GCSAA, which takes place in conjunction with a golf industry exhibition.
