Oldemiro Balói

Oldemiro Júlio Marques Baloi is a Mozambican businessman and politician.

Biography

Early 1990s was Baloi who is a member of FRELIMO 's first Deputy Minister of Cooperation. Subsequently, he was appointed in 1994 as Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism in the cabinet of Prime Minister Pascoal Mocumbi and belonged to this until 1999. He then became a member of the Executive Board and the Board of Directors of Banco Internacional de Moçambique (Millennium BIM).

On 10 March 2008 he was appointed by President Armando Guebuza as part of a cabinet reshuffle as the successor of Alcinda Abreu Minister for Foreign Affairs and Co-operation in the government of Prime Minister Luisa Diogo. Alcinda Abreu, Minister was for the coordination of environmental actions.

In May 2008, he warned of a " worsening of the Exodus " from South Africa, while thousands of Mozambicans crossed the border into their homeland and Mozambique declared a state of emergency in order to help its citizens better, fleeing the violence in South Africa. To date, over 10,000 people had returned to Mozambique, Baloi said. On 31 July 2009 the German Ambassador Klaus- Christian Kraemer and Baloi had signed the collective agreement for technical and financial cooperation. Through the agreements, the Federal Republic of Mozambique granted payments of up to EUR 20 million. In his capacity as foreign minister, he delivered a speech before the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2009.
