Oldenburg P 4.1

The vehicles of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg State Railways type P 4.1 were passenger locomotives of the wheel arrangement 2'B. After the takeover by the German Reichsbahn locomotives were classified in the range 36.12.

History

After the locomotives of Class P 3.2 were no longer sufficient for the operation, procured the Oldenburg State Railways from 1896 to 1902, following the example of Prussian locomotives with the wheel arrangement 2'B vehicles. The locomotives were given the course numbers 107-111, 116, 129-134, 139-144, 150, and were named after birds. The locomotives were used in passenger and express train services on the Oldenburg main routes. With a tractive power of 368 tonnes at 68 km / h performance for the flat stretches was sufficient. Following the acquisition of all locomotives by the German Reichsbahn they were redrawn to 36 1201-36 1219 and retired by 1931.

Design features

The locomotives possessed a sheet metal frame with a thickness of 25 mm. The riveted boiler barrel consisted of three shots. The back boiler with copper firebox was drawn in between the frame plates. The safety valve was type Ramsbottom. Compared to the Prussian model of the boiler was about a meter shorter, also was abandoned on the steam dome and ordered the vapor manifold in boiler barrel on. The controller was located in the smoke chamber. Due to the smaller boiler is also a smaller grate area was sufficient.

The frame is supported at four points. The two Kuppelradsätze were fixed in the frame, the springs connected to each other by compensating lever.

The horizontally arranged two-cylinder wet steam engine worked on the first coupled axle. The Heusinger control was on the outside. The simple flat slide originally used was replaced by balanced flat slide.

The air brake of the type Westinghouse worked on both axles powered. The gritters sandete the first Kuppelradsatz from scratch. Gas lighting was Pinsch design. Furthermore, the locomotives possessed a steam heating device. They were coupled with a Tender 3 T 12.
