Oldenburg S 5

The steam locomotives of Class S 5 of the Oldenburg State Railways (Series 13:18 Deutsche Reichsbahn ) were built on the model of the Prussian S 5.2 and like the previous series S 3 purchased for the route between Wilhelmshaven, Oldenburg and Bremen.

Eleven aircraft were built 1909-1913 by Hanomag. They differed in some technical details of the Prussian locomotives, as they had, for example, a valve control type Lentz. Also, the circulation was higher than with the Prussian S 5.2, could be so that dispensed Radschutzkästen. They had a starting device of the type Ranafier.

They had names of Germanic deities. The German Reichsbahn took over all eleven locomotives with the number 13 1851-13, 1861, and numbered them out until 1927.
