Oldham County (Kentucky)

Oldham County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is La Grange. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in the north of Kentucky, bounded on the northwest by the State of Indiana, separated by the Ohio River and has an area of 509 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Trimble County, Henry County, Shelby County and Jefferson County.

History

Oldham County was formed on December 15, 1823 from parts of Henry County, Jefferson County and Shelby County. It was named after Colonel Williamson Simpson Oldham, who was killed in Indian battles.
