Ole Amund Gjersvik

Ole Amund Gjersvik studied with Bjørn Ianke, Mathias Weber, Knut Erik Sundquist and Kåre Garnes; he had also studied with Marc Johnson, Bjørn and Terje Kjellemyr Venaas. He graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Bergen. Since the early 1980s Gjersvik worked as a freelance musician with Bob Mintzer ( Yellowjackets ) and Mick Ronson as well as with numerous musicians from the Norwegian jazz scene, as Dag Arnesen, Ketil Bjørnstad, Olav Dale, Charles and Kenneth Sivertsen Seglem. He also worked as a studio musician for many Norwegian television shows and worked for artists such as Neil Sedaka, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Christer Sjøgren, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Rune Larsen and Tor Endresen.

Ole Amund Gjersvik conducted two separate formations, the Ole Amund Gjersvik quartet with Jan Kåre Hystad ( saxophones, clarinet and flute), Morten Færestrand (guitar) and Stein Inge Braekhus (drums) and tango lineup combo tango.
