Ole Bischof

Ole Bischof ( born August 27, 1979 in Reutlingen ) is a German judoka, the Olympic champion in the weight category to 81 kg was at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Life and athletic career

Ole Bischof is the son of Gunter Bischof, a successful judoka, who was among other things, Federal Lehrwart in German Judo Federation. Ole Bischof began in 1992 at the age of 13 years to the sport of judo at TSG Reutlingen. At 18, he became German champion in the age group U21. Four years later, in 2001, the title of German Champion followed with the men. As a result, he won numerous medals at international level and in 2005 was European champion.

He began since 2001 also for TSV Abensberg in the team competitions. With Abensberg he was from 2002 to 2011 German team champion and 2006 European Cup winner. Of the fans, he was voted " most valuable fighters" in 2005 and 2008.

For the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens was Ole Bischof replacement athlete for Florian Wanner. The choice in favor Wanners was extremely tight, as bishop in 2004 was the best-placed German in the world rankings while Wanner had to show the title of the reigning world champion (2003 in Osaka, Japan).
