Ole J. Kvale

Ole Juulson Kvale (* February 6, 1869 in Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa, † September 11, 1929 near the Otter Tail Lake, Minnesota ) was an American politician. Between 1923 and 1929 he represented the state of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ole Kvale attended the public schools of his home. In 1890 he graduated from Luther College in Decorah. It was followed by a study of theology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. In 1894, Kvale was ordained a priest. Between 1894 and 1917 he practiced that profession in Orfordville (Wisconsin ). In the meantime he studied until 1914, still at the University of Chicago. Between 1917 and 1922 he worked as a clergyman.

In 1920 as an independent candidate Kvale Republicans unsuccessfully for Congress. Then he joined the strong in Minnesota Farmer-Labor Party. In the congressional elections of 1922, he was appointed as their candidate in the seventh constituency of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Andrew Volstead on March 4, 1923. After he was confirmed in the following midterm elections in each of his mandate, he could remain until his death on 11 September 1929 at the U.S. House of Representatives. After an election his seat fell to his son Paul.
