Oleandra

The Farngattung Oleandra is the only genus of the family Oleandraceae. This includes about 40 species in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide.

Description

There are terrestrial, epilithisch or hemiepiphytisch wild species. The fronds are simple. The sori have roundish - reniform indusia. The spores are kidney-shaped. The basic chromosome number is x = 41

System

The Oleandraceae family is mono generic:

  • . Oleandra Cav, about 14-40 species, including: Oleandra articulata ( Sw. ) C. Presl, which is found in southern Mexico, Central America, Colombia and Venezuela
  • Oleandra cumingii J. Sm, which is found in South and Southeast Asia
  • Oleandra nodosa ( Willd. ) C. Presl, which is found in tropical America and in Guinea ( island of Fernando Po).

The often counted to the family and genera Arthropteris Psammiosorus are now placed on the Tectariaceae.
