Olecranon fracture
An olecranon fracture is a fracture of the olecranon, which means the top edge of the ulna in the forearm, where the tendon of the Armstreckers ( triceps brachii ) attaches.
Symptoms
It usually arises from direct trauma, ie a fall backwards or sideways, with direct impact on the elbows. The arm can not be actively extended. The elbow is swollen and bloodshot. One can feel the broken bone piece that is pulled through the triceps tendon to the top.
Therapy
The therapy should usually be surgically by simple tension band wiring, in comminuted fracture plate fixation is necessary. After at least eight weeks, the metal can be removed again. Only with non -displaced fracture does not need to be operated in children.
