Oleg Kononenko

Oleg Dmitrievich Kononenko (Russian Олег Дмитриевич Кононенко; born June 21, 1964 in Tschardschou, Turkmen SSR, Soviet Union, now called Türkmenabat ) is a Russian cosmonaut.

Early 2002, Kononenko was nominated as a flight engineer for ISS Expedition 9. Besides Kononenko should fly Gennadi Padalka and Mike Fincke as commander as flight engineers. After the disaster of the Columbia in February 2003, the manning of ISS supply reasons was reduced to two. This had an impact on all previously appointed teams. When the flight finally launched in April 2004, Kononenko was not there.

Kononenko worked from April to October 2008 as a flight engineer of Expedition 17 on the International Space Station.

In October 2009, Kononenko was nominated for an extended stay aboard the ISS. Since December 2011, he worked as an engineer aboard the ISS Expedition 30 and took over from the end of April 2012, the command of the ISS Expedition 31 was the landing on 1 July 2012.

Oleg Kononenko is married and has two children.
