Oleg Ivanovich Skripotschka (Russian Олег Иванович Скрипочка; born December 24, 1969 in Newinnomyssk, Stavropol region, USSR ) is a Russian cosmonaut.

Education and professional life

After the successful completion of physics and mathematics school # 28 in Zaporizhia 1987 Skripotschka studied at the Moscow Bauman State Technical University until 1993 mechanical engineering. He specialized in the construction of aircraft. Already during his studies he worked for the aerospace company NPO Energia. He then worked as an engineer in the test and development department of the Group.

Spaceman activity

On 28 July 1997 Skripotschka was chosen by the cosmonauts Department RKK Energijas as a candidate, he completed his basic training from Cosmonaut in November 1999. This was followed by an extended ISS training. He was the replacement for Oleg Kononenko during its flight as a flight engineer of Soyuz TMA -12 mission to the International Space Station.

Skripotschka served on a long-term mission as a flight engineer of ISS Expeditions 25 and 26 On 7 October 2010 he started together with Alexander Kaleri and Scott Kelly with the Soyuz TMA -01M to the ISS and landed on March 16, 2011.

On 15 November 2010 he undertook together with Fyodor Yurchikhin his first spacewalk. Among other things, a work platform at the Zvezda was installed and dismantled the contour experiment. His second and third spacewalk he undertook together with Dmitri Kontratjew on 21 January 2011 and 16 February 2011, in which the Russian part of the station further equipped and mounted several experiments or were recovered.

A second stay aboard the ISS for 2016Vorlage: Future / planned in 2 years. Skripotschka will start in spring 2016 with Soyuz TMA -20M to the ISS and its board engineer for the ISS Expeditions 47 and 48. He will return to earth in the fall of 2016.

Private

Oleg Skripotschka is married and has two children. His hobbies include skydiving and cycling tourism.
