Oleg Zaytsev

Oleg Alexandrovich Zaitsev (Russian Олег Александрович Зайцев; * August 4, 1939 in Moscow, Russian SFSR, † March 1, 1993 ) was a Soviet ice hockey player.

Career

During his career, played the defender at HK CSKA Moscow. Overall, he scored 42 goals in 320 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On January 15, 1964, he was in a game against Canada for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medals at the Winter Olympic Games in 1964 and 1968. For the national team, he scored 11 goals in 73 internationals. The Ice Hockey World Championships 1966 and 1967 he was with his team world champion. In 1966 he was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame". On December 7, 1968 he played his last international match.
