Olegário Benquerença

Olegário Benquerença (born 18 October 1969 in Batalha ) is a Portuguese football referee, he was nominated for the FIFA World Cup 2010 along with the wizard Bertino Miranda and José Cardinal as the first purely Portuguese referee team at a World Cup. He has previously refereed 57 international matches, this pronounced 13 penalty, 13 red cards and 288 yellow cards awarded. His first game he whistled on 23 August 2001 at the UEFA Cup qualifier against Rapid Bucharest Atlantas Klaipeda.

He speaks Portuguese, English, French and Spanish. According to statistics, he has the away teams imposed average 2.47 yellow cards, while the home teams received 1.67 yellow cards. The home team got nine penalty, the away teams of four. He has three qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2006 whistled and four for the Football World Cup in 2010. Too, he is often in the Portuguese Primeira Liga in use. On 25 January 2004, he was the referee in the Super League match Vitória Guimaraes - Benfica, who had the substitute in the 60th minute Miklós Fehér shown a yellow card shortly before the end of the game for delay of game, a few seconds before he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.

On 29 May 2011, he headed the charity match between Germany and Uruguay in Sinsheim.
