Olexandr Wolodymyrowytsch Schowkowskyj (Ukrainian Олександр Шовковський, born January 2, 1975 in Kiev) is a Ukrainian football goalkeeper.

Career

Schowkowskyj is a graduate of the football school of Dynamo Kiev and played ever since, with the exception of half a year at city rivals ZSK WSU Kiev, never in a different club than at Dynamo Kiev, making it a record player with over 300 games. After long time he was the undisputed first goalkeeper of Kiev, he had in the 2008 /09 season despite his captain Office his place to Stanislaw Bohusch exits.

In addition, he has long been a regular in the Ukrainian national team and was playing with 84 to 11 October 2008 Record national team of his country, when he was replaced by Andriy Shevchenko. Its use in the Football World Cup 2006 was initially questionable, since he could not play because of an injury for a long time. Schowkowskyj then played in all five games until leaving the Ukraine in the quarterfinals. After the second-round match against Switzerland, he was elected man of the match after he was able to parry two shots of the Swiss in a penalty shootout.

In early September 2012, he ended his international career.
