Olga Bondarenko

Olga Petrovna Bondarenko (Russian Ольга Петровна Бондаренко, born Кренцер, Krenzer; born June 2, 1960 in Slavgorod ) is a former Russian long-distance runner and Olympic gold medalist russia German descent who competed for the Soviet Union.

Bondarenko started her career at a time, as in the main competitions, the long distance was still 3000 meters. Under her birth name Olga Krenzer put them on already on 7 August 1981 with a time of 32:30,8 minutes the first world record in the 10,000 - meter race, at a time when the IAAF had not yet taken this discipline. At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, she won the gold medal in the 10,000 meters in front of Liz McColgan (GBR ) and Jelena Schupijewa - Wjasowa (URS ).
