Olga Bondarenko

Olga Petrovna Bondarenko (Russian Ольга Петровна Бондаренко, born Кренцер, Krenzer; born June 2, 1960 in Slavgorod ) is a former Russian long-distance runner and Olympic gold medalist russia German descent who competed for the Soviet Union.

Bondarenko started her career at a time, as in the main competitions, the long distance was still 3000 meters. Under her birth name Olga Krenzer put them on already on 7 August 1981 with a time of 32:30,8 minutes the first world record in the 10,000 - meter race, at a time when the IAAF had not yet taken this discipline. On 24 June 1984, she then presented the first official world record in this discipline at a time of 31:13,78 min in Kiev under its present name.

The European Athletics Championships 1986 in Stuttgart, she won the gold medal in the 3000 m and the silver medal in the 10,000 meters.

At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, she won the gold medal in the 10,000 meters in front of Liz McColgan (GBR ) and Jelena Schupijewa - Wjasowa (URS ).
