Olga Shishigina

Olga Schischi Gina ( Kazakh Ольга Шишигина, English transcription Olga Shishigina, . Born December 23, 1968 in Alma- Ata) is a Kazakh hurdler and Olympic champion.

Schischi Gina introduced in 1995 with 12.44 seconds the current Asian record in the 100 - meter hurdles, winning at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg the silver medal in the 100 - meter hurdles. 1996-1998 it was closed due to the consumption of prohibited doping products. At the 1999 World Championships in Seville, she was fourth. At the World Indoor Championships in 1999, she won gold.

At the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000, she won the gold medal in the 100 - meter hurdles before Glory Alozie (Nigeria ) and Melissa Morrison (USA). It is thus the first athlete who won an Olympic gold medal for the young state of Kazakhstan.

The following year, she won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Edmonton.
