Olha Saladuha

Olha Saladucha (Ukrainian Ольга Саладуха, English transcription Olha Saladukha, . Born June 4, 1983 in Donetsk, then Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian triple jumper. She was 2011 World Champion and 2010 and 2012 European champion.

Life

Already at junior level it was successful and in 2002 fifth at the Junior World Championships. Their first international medal she won at the 2005 Summer Universiade in Izmir, where they finished second behind the Chinese Wang Hing with 13,96 m; Two years later she won at the Universiade in Bangkok with 14,79 m.

At the European Championships 2006 in Gothenburg she won with 14.38 m in fourth place, but had 0.64 m behind the bronze medalist. In the following years, a seventh place finish at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, a sixth place finish at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia in 2008 and a ninth place finish at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2008, she also defended their Ukrainian league title in the triple jump and placed it with 14,84 m their personal best.

2009 Saladucha was not active, but returned in 2010 successfully returned. At the European Championships in Barcelona, she won with 14.81 m and 0.25 m ahead of the Italian Simona La Mantia. At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu she became world champion with her personal best jump of 14.94 meters.

2012 Saladucha defended their European title in Helsinki and improved her personal best to 14.99 meters again. With the Summer Olympic Games started shortly afterwards in London as the favorite, she saved only at the last jump to 14.79 meters bronze medal. In March 2013, it won the gold medal with a personal best jump of 14.88 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden.
