Oliveira do Bairro ( Portuguese for: Olive tree of the district ) is a municipality and city in Portugal with 6242 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011).
History
Celtiberians settled in the district, the church today Mamarrosa. Findings validate the presence of the Romans in the church today Palhaça and Bustos. For the first time documented is the current place in a donation document from the year 922, under the name Ulveira. First City rights were granted Oliveira do Bairro in 1514 by King Manuel I, who brought the place to Vila ( town ). In 1836 it became an independent circuit ( concelho ). 2003 was raised Oliveira do Bairro the city ( Cidade ).
