Oliver Ortmann

Oliver Ortmann ( born June 11, 1967 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German pool player.

His international breakthrough came in 1989 with a surprising victory at the U.S. Open in 14 and 1 endless. He could repeat this success in 1993. In the course of his career Ortmann was previously three times world champion (1995 in the 9-Ball World Cup and 2007 and 2010 in the 14 and 1 endless WM) and is also fourteen- time European champion, including three times in the 8-Ball (1996, 2006, 2007 ), six times in 9 -Ball ( 1993, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2003 ) and five times 14 and 1 endless ( 1987, 1989, 1990, 2000, 2006).

There are also 14 wins on the Euro Tour (most recently the Netherlands Open 2009 ), a second place at the World Pool Masters 2004 and a third in the World Pool League 2002 and more than 40 German championships.

He also represented Europe in the Mosconi Cup nine times (once of them as non- playing captain ).

His nickname in the pool scene is The Machine.
