Oliver Platt

Oliver James Platt ( born January 12, 1960 in Windsor, Ontario) is a Canadian actor.

Life and achievements

Oliver Platt, son of a diplomat, grew up in Washington, DC and in Asia. In 1983, he completed a drama degree at Tufts University. Platt played at the end of the 1980s television series. In 1988, he starred opposite Alec Baldwin and Michelle Pfeiffer in a supporting role in the comedy Married to the Mob by Jonathan Demme. In the same year he also appeared in the comedy Working Girl in the role of Bob Lutz on, a colleague of Tess McGill, played by Melanie Griffith. In the thriller Flatliners - Today is a beautiful day to die (1990 ), he starred opposite Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon students Randy Steckle who experiments with near-death experiences. In Indecent Proposal (1993 ) he played the lawyer Jeremy, which formulated the agreement between John Gage (Robert Redford ), Diana Murphy (Demi Moore ) and David Murphy ( Woody Harrelson ).

For his role in the comedy Dr. Dolittle (1998) Platt was nominated in 1999 for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award. From 2000 to 2001 he was seen in a leading role in the television series Dead Line. In 2001 he was nominated for his role in the television series The West Wing for an Emmy Award. For his role in the television series Huff - Ready for the Couch (2004), he was nominated in 2005 for an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award.

Private life

On September 12, 1992 Platt married his first wife, Mary Camilla Bonsal Campbell (better known as Camilla ). They have three children (* 1995, * 1997 and * 1999). He is distantly related to the late Diana Frances Spencer.
