Oliver Reed

Robert Oliver Reed ( born February 13, 1938 in Wimbledon, London; † 2 May 1999 Valletta, Malta) was a British actor.

Life

First sensation was caused by Oliver Reed in the Hammer film The Curse of Siniestro ( The Curse of the Werewolf ) by 1961. Subsequently, he starred in romantic films, but also " harder" roles in adventure films. In the 1960s and 1970s Oliver Reed was a huge international star and played the main or major supporting roles in films such as What's next ...? ( I'll Never Forget What's ' ISName ), Oliver! , Women in Love ( Women in Love ), murderers GmbH ( The Assassination Bureau), The Devil ( The Devils ), The Three Musketeers ( The Three Musketeers) and Tommy. From the 1980s, he was less in demand. Thus, although several engagements followed, however, mainly in B- movies unknown. One example is with him as a world star much heralded television film The Tunnel Gangster of Berlin, a flop that was quickly produced in 1996, after a short time before taken place spectacular crimes for RTL.

Reed was notorious for his binge drinking. Once he had to leave the TV talk show After Dark after he had appeared drunk and feminist Kate Millett had kissed. Many anecdotes tell of his drinking ability. It annoyed him often when his performances were turning more to his binge drinking than for his latest film in television talk shows. In 1979 he published his autobiography Reed All About Me

He was married twice: from 1959 to the division in 1969 with Kate Burn, with whom he had a son, and from 1985 until his death with Josephine Burge. From 1969 he lived together with the dancer Jackie Daryl, whom he met during the filming of the musical film Oliver. They had a daughter.

On 2 May 1999 Reed died in Valletta in Malta during the filming of the movie Gladiator of a heart attack. For remaining scenes for which he was no longer even be available, it was added later using computer animation his image from existing footage.
