Olli-Pekka Karjalainen

Olli -Pekka Karjalainen ( Olli -Pekka Karjalainen Tapio; born March 7, 1980 in Töysä ) is a Finnish hammer thrower.

The Junior World Champion in 1998 and European Junior Champion in 1999 in the hammer throw took three times at the Olympics in part ( Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 ), but missed the first two in the final. 1999 Seville and 2001 in Edmonton, he reached in each case the preliminaries, but could not reach the last three attempts in eleventh and tenth. He succeeded in 2005 in Helskini when he was in fifth World Cup.

After he had finished eighth in Munich at the European Championships in 2002, Karjalainen succeeded in 2006 in Gothenburg winning the silver medal.

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he was ninth at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing sixth. In 2009 he retired from the World Championships in Berlin in qualifying.

His best jump of 83.30 meters he set up in Lahti on 14 July 2004.

Olli -Pekka Karjalainen is 1.94 m and weighs 115 kg.
