Olu Falae

Samuel Oluyemisi Falae (* 1938 in Akure ), named Olu Falae, is a Nigerian politician.

Falae completed his studies at the University of Ibadan and at Yale University. Originally banker, he was finance minister in the military government of Ibrahim Babangida. In the presidential elections in Nigeria in 1999, he was co candidate of the Alliance for Democracy and the All People's Party, but lost with 37.22 % percent of the vote against Olusegun Obasanjo of the People's Democratic Party. As a Christian he had the Yoruba southwest of Nigeria behind him, but could gain little voices in other areas. Today is Falae United Farmer and Chairman of the newly formed Democratic Peoples Alliance, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Party Alliance.

Because of its policy as finance minister in the 1980s Olu Falae (engl. Fool or simpleton by structural adjustment programs ) was also called Mr SAP.
