Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights

The Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights were an ice hockey club from the city of Omaha in Nebraska von 2005 to 2007. The Knights were in the possession of the Calgary Flames and had their farm team in the AHL. Farm team of the Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights were once again the Las Vegas Wranglers ( ECHL ).

The club was after the Knights of Ak -Sar - Ben, a municipal organization in Omaha, named. The term "Ak -Sar - Ben" is nothing more than the backward very name of the state is Nebraska and was the name of the former cultural center of the city of Omaha. Also a former ice hockey team, the Omaha Knights already said, wore out their home games at Ak -Sar - Ben.

The home of the Ak -Sar - Ben Knights was the Omaha Civic Auditorium.

In 2007, the franchise to Moline, Illinois was resettled.

History

The Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights were founded in 2005 as a new AHL farm team of the Calgary Flames. They originated from the old franchise the Saint John Flames, who stopped the operation of gambling in the summer of 2003 and were the No. 1 farm team of the Calgary Flames.

The 2005/06 season was the first of the Ak -Sar - Ben Knights and in this they missed the playoffs with a sixth place in their division.

2006/ 07 they reached the playoffs for the first time and used in the regular season in first place in the West Division. In the first round of the playoffs, they ultimately failed Stars at Iowa.

In May 2007, the Calgary Flames announced that the franchise relocated to the region of the Quad Cities Moline, Illinois and is renamed Quad City Flames.
