Omar Cabezas

Omar Cabezas (* 1950 in León ) is a Nicaraguan writer, revolutionary and politician.

Life

Omar Cabezas joined the late 60s to the resistance against the ruling Somoza dictatorship in Nicaragua. He took to the victory over the National Guard in July 1979 in part in the armed struggle against the regime. In the 80 years he worked in the Ministry of Interior for the Sandinista government. His best-known literary work is probably the novel: " The earth turns tender, Compañera ". In this novel Cabezas told how it came about that he joined the resistance against Somoza. He tells of the first co-organized by his student marches in León and his life in the guerrilla movement in the mountains of Nicaragua. Currently Cabezas is the head of the National Human Rights Commission ( para la Defensa de los Procurator Derechos Humanos ) and notorious for his authoritarian style of leadership, financial irregularities of his authority and for his sprawling lifestyle. The guided by Cabezas authority is part of the run of Daniel Ortega authoritarian power structure in Nicaragua.
