Omethoate is a chemical compound from the group of carboxylic acid amides and Thiophosphoric.
Production and representation
Omethoate, by reaction of O, O- Dimethylphosphorylmercaptoessigsäure be with methyl isocyanate or by reaction of O, O- Dimethylthiophosphorsäure made with 2-chloro- N- methylacetamide.
Properties
Omethoate is a flammable, low volatile, oily, colorless liquid with mercaptanartigem odor, miscible with water. It decomposes on heating above 135 ° C. Omethoate slowly hydrolysed in acidic and under basic conditions faster.
Use
Omethoate is used as an insecticide. It was approved in the German Democratic Republic 1976-1994 and in Germany 1971-1998. It is a metabolite and P = O analogue ( oxon ) of dimethoate and acts by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase.
Omethoate was not included in the list of allowable pesticide active substances in Annex I to Directive 91/414/EEC, 2002. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, no plant protection products containing this active ingredient are allowed.
