Omi (Nagano)

Omi (in Japanese :麻 绩 村, -mura ) is a village in Higashichikuma -gun in Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.

Geography

Omi is located in Chikuma mountains between Matsumoto and Nagano. Omi has an area of ​​34.38 km ² and 2,970 inhabitants (as of 1 February 2010). In the village is the Hill Hijiri. The plateau is Hijiri ( Kōgen kenritsu shizen kōen Hijiriyama ) are reported by the prefecture as a nature park. Adjacent municipalities are the cities ( shi) and Chikuma Nagano and the villages Chikuhoku and Ikusaka, both of which also belong to Higashichikuma -gun.

History

The earliest evidence of the name Omi dates back to 1186th As a modern administrative unit Omi was born on 1 April 1889. September 30, 1956, neighboring village with Omi was merged. From 2002 to 2004 Omi took part in the conference to plan the merger of the villages Honjō, Omi, Sakai and Sakakita to Chikuhoku and prepare. This Chikuhoku was established without the participation of Omi.

Traffic

By Omi leads the Shinonoi Line of JR East. The village is connected via the railway station Hijiri Kōgen to the Japanese rail network. In addition, there are several bus lines.
