Omid

Omid was the first self-built and self- launched Iranian microsatellite. Omid is the Persian word for hope. He was shot into orbit on February 2, 2009. The launch vehicle Safir 2 used for this purpose was also developed and produced in Iran.

Specifications

The cube- shaped satellite had a mass of 27 kg and ran around the Earth in about 91 minutes.
