Omnichord

The Omnichord is an electronic musical instrument that has been manufactured since 1981 by Suzuki Musical Instruments. It is the successor of the Tronichords and the predecessor of the Q- Chords.

Operation

It is operated by pressing keys that dictate fundamental tones or chords, and a touch sensitive sensor ( strumplate ). This sensor allows the triggering of both individual tones as well ( by swiping ) several tones similar to a zither or harp. Through the selection of chords results in a guitar similar style of play, the strumplate comprises four octaves. Furthermore, the instruments offer a rhythmic accompaniment. This has the Omnichord the typical sound electronic sound generators at times of the 1980s, as he was also found in the small keyboards by Casio.

Connections

The later models OM200m Omnichord OM300 and already have like the later Q- Chord via a MIDI -out interface.

Dissemination

In contrast to the Anglo-Saxon countries both omnichord and Q - Chord are very little spread in Germany. The German band Trio put the Omnichord for the song Turaluraluralu - I'll BuBu what are you doing a concise.

The Omnichord is a popular object of the circuit bending scene, being produced by interventions on the board modifications to the sound.
