Omsukchan

Omsuktschan (Russian Омсукчан ) is an urban-type settlement in Magadan Oblast (Russia) with 4157 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The settlement is surrounded by the towering there to about 1500 m the northern foothills of the Kolymagebirges, approximately 420 line kilometers northeast of the Oblastverwaltungszentrums Magadan. History

Its history begins with the discovery of coal deposits in 1937 and 1939 tin deposits in the wider area. Though founded in the village is considered 1940.
