On Deadly Ground is an American film and the directorial debut of actor Steven Seagal from 1994.

Action

The oil company Aegis are the beautiful environment of Alaska and their nature-loving locals indifferent. The interest is on achieving the maximum profit. Company President Michael Jennings (Michael Caine ) takes the loss of lives in purchasing. When the fire-fighting specialist Taft ( Steven Seagal ) learns of the company's plans, he joins the struggle of Inuit and get to know the beautiful Masu ( Joan Chen ). At the end of Seagal kills the entrepreneur Jennings, by letting him drown in oil.

In an epilogue Taft makes an impassioned speech against the unscrupulousness, destroy with the companies and politicians the environment.

Criticism

" Blend of action thriller and eco - Western with grandiose nature shots. Hero worship and justification of violence are cloaked hypocritical with environmental motives. "

Awards

Steven Seagal was in 1995 awarded a Golden Raspberry as Worst Director. The film was nominated in five other categories for the Golden Raspberry.
