Oncino

Oncino is a municipality with a population of 73 (as at 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Cuneo (CN ), Region Piedmont. It is located at the headwaters of the Po, about 55 km southwest of Turin.

The municipality is 2006 Member of the Mountain Community Comunità Montana Valli Po, Bronda e Infernotto, which was expanded in 2008 to the Comunità Montana Valli Po, Bronda, Infernotto e Varaita since ~.

Geography

The village lies about 1200 m above sea level in the mountainous upper part of the Po Valley, about 10 km as the crow from the sources of the Po removed in the Cozie Alps.

It is located about 1 km south of here, partly wooded main valley in a short tributary. On the north side the neighboring Ostana the Strada Statale 662 (SS 622 or " Via Valle Po " ) that leads to the western mountains and to the east over Paesana Saluzzo and Turin runs.

The municipality covers an area of ​​46 km ². The neighboring municipalities are Casteldelfino Crissolo Ostana Paesana, Pontechianale and Sampeyre.

Demographics

After reaching a high turn of the century the population declined dramatically by over 90 percent. Whether investment in tourism can stop migration (especially in Crissolo ), is doubtful.
