Ondara

Dénia is a small town in the province of Alicante in Spain.

The city was built by the Moors. James I ( Aragón ) divided the city in 1244 the Kingdom of Valencia, which belonged to the Crown of Aragon.

Attractions

The typical Arabic design of the houses and streets is still clearly visible today. Worth seeing

  • Built in the 17th century Town Hall,
  • Renovated in 1957, the Bullring,
  • Two churches from the 16th and 17th centuries
  • The Torre del Relotge ( clock tower ), the only remaining of the original four-towered Moorish castle and
  • 150 year old fountain.

The patron saint Ondaras is the Virgen de la Soledad ( Virgin of Solitude ).
